What to Expect

Compassion and teamwork.

My clinical style is warm, approachable, and compassionate, while also being direct. I believe in transparency and answering your questions directly and honestly. To make progress we need to work as a team, equally striving to help you move in the direction you want in your life.

An approach backed by science.

My treatment approach is based in cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT). Many people struggling with anxiety-related conditions live for years assuming their symptoms will always control much of their lives. A lot of scientific evidence, as well as my track record helping many clients make significant gains, has shown otherwise.

Extensive research has shown that most people who have engaged in these treatments have seen their symptoms significantly improve. They report improvements in their relationships or work goals and feeling less hindered by their symptoms in their day-to-day lives. Read more about how I apply CBT here.

Empowerment.

I believe in moving beyond talking and instead to doing. My ultimate goal is for you to not need me. Through my approach, I hope to teach you skills that improve how you feel, increase your sense of control over your life, and empower you to believe in your own ability to manage challenges as they arise. I hope to teach you to become your own therapist.

A treatment plan tailored to you.

I work collaboratively with you to determine what you’re looking for from treatment, and I tailor my approach to your specific needs. In addition to CBT, I incorporate components of other evidence-based treatments (such as acceptance and commitment therapy and dialectical behavior therapy). I help you identify what is most important to you in life and prioritize goals that bring you closer to what matters most to you. We work together to make sure that we both feel confident our treatment plan is a great fit for what you’re looking for in therapy.

Incorporation of your culture.

I’m strongly committed to incorporating factors of diversity into the work that I do. I know that your goals, comfort in treatment, and experiences may be strongly affected by your background, culture, experiences of discrimination, race, age, sex, gender, sexual orientation, veteran status, ability status, and religion. I am motivated to work with you to understand how your unique perspective may be different from my own and to learn how I can help you in a way that fits with your experiences.
